New Full Color Inkjet for Cards and Envelopes

New Inkjet Technology threatens Xante Digital Press
Rena Systems recently introduced the new Rena Mach 5 Printer that utilizes the new Memjet Inkjet Technology.  The printer is designed to go head-to-head with the Xante Digital Press , although it uses different print technology.  Both are designed to be an economical solution for printing full color envelopes, cards, labels or just about anything else that you need.
The Memjet-powered inkjet from Rena is brand new and looks very promising.  Like the Xante, the Rena Mach 5 features a straight and short paper path which is well suited for envelopes and cards.  Both claim to be low cost alternatives to traditional color printing on envelopes and cards, especially when labor is factored in because of the simplicity of both systems and the assumption that a lower-paid employee can run the Xante or Rena Mach 5.

Rena's released information regarding the cost of ownership versus the Xante printer and claims a big savings, which seems to support information found on the web regarding the Xante true costs.

I've found the following quotes regarding the Xante at the Print Planet "What they think" forum for printers:

Rena Mach 5 Inkjet Printer

"You start getting over 30% coverage and the toner alone will cost more than what you are selling the job for."

"Considering Xante myself, but it's frightening. I haven't read such a disparity of opinions about a printer that the Xante inspires. Some people claim it drives them to the poor house and others love it."

Judging from the posts on the forum, the Xante Digital Press is a good machine for some, but consumables are "pricey".  Rena has released the following Mach 5 Cost to Print Document, which holds promise to be a lower cost solution.  More information on the Rena Mach 5 Printer are available on this website.
